Project: "Identification and Characterization of a Novel PKD Substrates"
Members of Protein kinase D family (PKC µ /PKD, PKD2 and PKC υ /PKD3), a subfamily of Calcium/ Calmodulin dependent kinase (CAMK) super family are serine/ threonine kinases, occupying an important position in the signal transduction pathways downstream of diacylglycerol (DAG) and Protein kinase C (PKC). The three PKD isoforms share striking similarities and have been implicated in regulation of multiple biological processes including cell survival, proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis and motility. Important role of PKD’s in each of these physiological and pathological processes further underscores the significance of identifying and characterizing novel PKD substrates, thus providing a better insight into PKD’s role in signaling and regulation of cellular processes.
